following Michael J Finch

Ten years ago, 19th April 1998, Michael J Finch called his wife saying "I'll be home soon", he left his office in Hull, got into his car and drove off. He hasn't been seen since. Many assume he is dead but his mobile phone is still active and a trail of drawings found around the country seems to track messages that people have reported leaving on it. We have managed to get copies of some of these drawings and will continue to post any more that appear. Call Michael on 07508349574

We have recently heard that a group of artists called "Active Layers" used the anniversary of Michael Finch's disappearance to stage a show featuring him and three other displaced characters. We are trying to contact Active Layers to find out more information - for example, they apparently used an online platform called Upstage to introduce Michael to an online audience - is it possible that this was actually him online, or was it simply an artist posing as him? We will keep you posted.

This is a very recent drawing, found in Sunderland just over a week ago. 'Alan' is probably Michael Finch's Uncle, who emigrated to Australia several years ago, but was close to him before he disappeared. The note says "Get in touch or money will go to Jenny". Jenny Finch, Michael's wife, will be the recipient of all his assets, once he has been declared dead.
Just a couple of months after the drawing below, this drawing was found in Portsmouth. "Janey" is believed to be Jane Richmond, a colleague of Michael's at Marshal and Boyd, the company he worked for in Hull. Her response is simply "Call me".
This drawing was found in Nottingham in April 2007 - it was drawing exactly 5 years after his disappearance. We assume the caller didn't leave their name as he has written question marks where he normally writes a name, her response is "Go to police, think about family."
this is quite an old one from 2002, it is labelled 1. Kirstie, 2. Go back to childhood home.
We assume this refers to the response given to Michael Finch's answering machine message which says: "Leave a message if you can tell me how to get home".

the phone number

A local newspaper in Hull has published the phone number in an effort to convince police to re-open the case, following news that 7 years after case was abandoned, Michael J Finch will shortly be officially declared dead. The newspaper report says:
"If you know Michael Finch, or even if you don't, please call and leave a message on his phone - 07508349574. We believe that he - or whoever has his phone - sketches an impression of every caller who leaves a message, even those he has never met, and leaves the sketch wherever he happens to be. The more messages, therefore, the more sketches and the more chance of finding him."
Of course, if you have any information about the whereabouts of Michael Finch, call the police, otherwise please do call and leave a message. Who knows, you might find his sketch impression of you on this blog before long!
